Turning the Beat Around, Part III

There is considerable good news to report about An Abundance of Katherines. For instance:

Kirkus decided it was one of the Best Books of the Year.
The Horn Book agrees.
Bookslut also liked it.

In other news, we are approaching the time for New Year's Resolutions. I would appreciate it if you would leave a comment telling me what I should resolve to do.

Then, on December 31st, I am going to pick the best resolution that has been left in comments or emailed to me, and then I'm going to do the resolution for all of 2007.*

*Or until I get tired of it.

Look up a John Green from every state and establish a John Green convention. I know a John Green that's a high school guidance counselor. I'll bet you could get a lot of great ideas, just for embracing your name.

You've already turned the beat around. Thus, I think you ought to resolve to turn it upside down.

Sarah, I _do_ read my comments. So that won't work as a resolution.

The John Green Convention sounds very promising. Did you know there's a John Green who is considered the father of Sasquatchery?

I think it's obvious that you write well, and often. I also think it's obvious that you probably stress a little bit about it, which is probably necessary to be a working writer, I would say. BUT. I think the one thing you should resolve to do for the new year is to do one fun thing every day. One fun thing. Every day. So the stress doesn't get to you. So much.

Because, as silly as this may be, seeing as I've never met you, but having read two of your books, I would consider you a friend, and I worry about you. At least a little. Have some fun dude.

Not that you don't already have fun. Sorry about clogging up your comments.

I should be writing a paper on The Catcher in the Rye right now, but instead I find my self reading your blogs. I guess this is my perverse attempt to stick it to my lit class, because nothing ruins a good book like having to wirte a paper about it. Anyways, thats my resolution: stop procrastinating. But that will never happen so I wish the best of luck to you.

You ought to (accurately) predict the winner for the 2007 Printz. It would be over quickly and you could move on to other resolutions.
